The Little Gliders program introduces 4 and 5 year old children to skiing. It is a 50 minute program developed to foster a love for winter sports and enhance balance and motor skills on snow through games, songs, stories, and activities both on and off skis.
This group usually meets on Saturdays for five consecutive weeks from 10:00 to 10:50, beginning on January 28th and ending on March 4th (no session on 2/18). Skier to coaching ratio will be approximately 4:1. The equipment needed for this program are waxless skis and boots.
Registration is $110 (Note: a United States Ski and Snowboard general membership required to participate in the program as well as a Rocky Mountain Nordic Youth membership, which is approx. $35). Click here for online registration.
This program will be held if we're able to find a coach to assist. The Gliders Ski program is for children of all skiing abilities from 6 to 7 years old. This program uses play based learning to help skiers develop balance, motor skills, and technique.
Registration is open! Gliders will meet from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM starting on January 7th and ending on March 5th, 2022 (no session on 2/11 and 2/18). The skier to coaching ratio will be approximately 8:1. Skiers need to have waxless skis, boots, and poles for this program.

The Striders Junior (development) Program is for skiers between 8 and 13 years old of all abilities. This program will usually meet on Saturdays, depending on weather and other scheduled events at trails.
Registration is open! The program begins on January 7th and ends on March 5th (no sessions on 1/14 and 2/18). Practice session will be held from 10:00 – 11:30 AM. Skiers need to have classic skis, skate skis, boots, and poles for this program. The Skier to coaching ratio will be approximately 10:1.

GVNSC also has limited skis available for season rental with priority given to low income families. Contact gvnsc.president@gmail.com for more information.
The GVNSC practice sessions are held primarily on ski trails located on the United States Forest Service - Grand Mesa National Forest that are groomed by the Grand Mesa Nordic Council. The ski club holds a permit with the USFS to use this land. Please support the Grand Mesa Nordic Council by donating to trail grooming or becoming a member of their organization. The Little Gliders Program is for children 4 to 5 years old from January 21st to March 5th 2023 (no practice 2/11 or 2/18)
